Michael Burianyk

michaelDr. Michael Burianyk was born and raised in western Canada. Dr. Burianyk has Bachelor degrees in Physics and Geological Sciences and an M.Sc. in Geophysics from the University of Saskatchewan. He continued his studies and earned a Ph.D. in Crustal Geophysics from the University of Alberta. After a few years in academic research he entered the Petroleum industry and is currently a research Geophysicist with Shell International based in The Netherlands.

In his professional life he has held several chairman positions with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, including Chair of their Global Affairs Committee.

Besides his scientific work he has wide-ranging interest in Fantastic Literature, Graphic Literature, history, archaeology, linguistics and languages, photography, and antique maps and photographs. He lives in The Hague.
